A Brief History of UFO
Many generations of San Diegans have depended on U.F.O. starting with visits with their parents.

Sol Levine founded the store. It was originally part of Levine Brothers in New York , then L.A. They specialized in dry goods, pillows and tailoring supplies.

Sol left L.A. and Levine Brothers and opened up shop in downtown San Diego in the 40's. They had many locations downtown. |

Norman and Robbie Levine The Courting Years

Norman, Sol's son, and wife "Robbie" joined the business in the early 60s. |

Norman was the true creator of U.F.O. He moved the store into upholstery and decorative fabric for the home and away from clothing yardage. Robbie was always an important presence. |

Dewey "The Great One" Greaton

Dewey Greaton became Norman's partner in the late 60's. He and Norman moved the operation to National City in 1978. There the store grew to its present size and importance. |

The Golden

Growth continued with the opening of the Vista store for North County.
Norman and Robbie's sons, Eric and Dan, entered the business in the 70's and are now carrying on the UFO tradition with 3rd partner, Frank Inzunza.
